Around every corner is the lure to consume. A desire to be satisfied. Unfortunately no human being has found anything under the sun that brings satisfaction. So we consume more, and more, and more.  Eventually, we overdose. However, there is hope–if Christianity is our Rehab. In Jesus, satisfaction can be found. Grace, love, peace and hope can be found…and there is always more. Consume more of Jesus. Overdose.

1)I am thankful that out of His good pleasure alone God chose to save a vile wretch like me. I am thankful for the salvation of my family as well.
2) I am thankful for my wife Mystie. For nearly 20 yrs this woman has had to endure alot with me. Most mortal women would have given-up by now, but not this superwoman. It’s a great feeling knowing she has my back.
3)I am thankful for my children, Ryne and K.K. It’s amazing how different they are and how they each bring something special into this family. I can’t imagine life without either of them.
4)I am thankful for the Kiefer and Patch families. This not to take away anything from our other friends, but these two families have gone through so much with us…..and just when we think things are coming together God moves us in another direction. Whatever happens in life I know these wonderful people will be there with us.
5)I am thankful for my job. I don’t like it and I pray God moves me out of there everyday, but I am thankful for it and I try to do my best in there everyday.
6) I am thankful for the Doctrines of Grace that are revealed in God’s word. I’m glad that God opened my eyes to these doctrines and has continued to grow me in them. I know this isn’t the PC thing to say, But the way they have changed my view of everything is truly glorious.
7) I am thankful for my heroes in the Faith-John Piper, John MacArthur,R.C.Sproul,Jeff Noblitt, David Miller, Josh Buice,Mark Dever, Alistair Begg, Albert Mohler and Paul Washer just to name a few. I am thankful for their faithfulness in spreading and contending for the truth, and am thankful for the platform God has given them for this purpose.
8)I am thankful for the ones that came before us….John Calvin, Martin Luther,Charles Spurgeon,Jonathan Edwards,John Owen, etc……. I have learned so much through their writings, sometimes I feel like my brain is going to explode. I wish we still talked like they did.
9)I am thankful for Lecrae, Trip Lee, Tedashii, Sho Baraka, the CrossMovement family, Da’ Truth and Flame for their ministries. As someone who grew up on rap music it’s great to have a God glorifying alternative to the secular stuff that is out there.
10)I am thankful to my extended family. Without them I wouldn’t be half the person I am today. You know who you are.

I could do a top 1000 list of things I’m thankful for, but these 10 are the dearest to me.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! TGBTG!

Our friends at Reach Records are at it again with Lecrae’s soon to be released cd “Rehab”.  Here’s a little info on what we can expect from this much anticipated project……..

Album Bio

Anger, depression, addiction, and discontentment: just a few of the ills that plaque many a man.  The solutions: join a group, read a book, basically, YOU can win this battle!

But what about the war?  In solely attacking the behaviors or the external problems in our lives the origin of our issues is overlooked.  Essentially, we try to alter effects, instead of exploring and tackling the cause. Some don’t realize the root of their problems is internal, in fact spiritual. Others recognize, but underestimate how serious their problems are. And even still, as believers, we trust in ourselves to overcome by our own strength.

Out of a burden to encourage and challenge others, while also confessing his own struggles in this area, Lecrae offers REHAB.  On his long-awaited fourth album, Lecrae informs listeners that because of our sinful nature we all need rehabilitation, healing, and restoration back to the original state of unity with God. The universal solution to all our problems is not found in anything but Jesus. The Christian life is therefore an entrance into rehab.

Fittingly, the REHAB experience begins with “Check In,” as Lecrae prepares himself and his audience to leave behind their addictions and hindrances and enter rehabilitation.  What follows is not the usual compilation of sermons and theology-driven lyrics listeners have come to expect from Lecrae. Instead, REHAB is full of gritty, heartfelt, vulnerable and even emotional songs like “Just Like You,” which specifically explores the impact of substitutionary role models that pale in comparison to the perfect example found in Christ.

Lecrae gets support from Sho Baraka, Trip Lee, Tedashii, Pro, J.R., Benjah and many others along the journey towards restoration—with several memorable collaborations.  PK, CheeseBeats, J.R., and Benjah contribute on production and sonically, help take the listener along a soul-full ride.  REHAB also features bangers like “Use To Do It Too” and “High” along with the anthems “Children of the Light,” “40 Deep,” and “Walking On Water”–on which Lecrae boasts in God’s ability to empower the weakest of men.

Lecrae’s prayer is that people will not just gain practical insight for their lives, but they would find real sympathy from him and mostly, Jesus.  He is more than our healer. He IS our healing.  He doesn’t just offer us peace. He IS our peace. And He IS our rehabilitation. So find rest for your weary soul and joy in the midst of life’s ups and downs by checking into REHAB.

Here’s A short video of my favorite song off Tedashii’s new CD……………..

tedashiiidentitycrisis

116 Clique has done it again! This group of young talented rappers continue to step up and deliver great sounding , biblically saturated, theologically sound, Christ exalting music. Their latest effort is Tedashii’s “Identity Crisis”.  My friend Roger Servin has done a very good detailed review of the CD here. I’ll just share a few of my highlights today.

1)This is a wonderfully produced CD. It sounds great. In fact as we were coming home from town last night I had “26’s” turned up with the windows down and my wife made me turn it down at the red light. You need to know all I have is a factory system in my ride………………. In all the songs the music and the delivery of the lyrics flow with awesome consistency. I also love the progression and line-up of songs as they take us through The fall, our adoption and our new fellowship with each other as the church.

2)I love the way he meshed the heavy hitting in you face songs like “26’s” and “Make War”, with some more mellow laid back tunes like “Hollywood and Gotta Believe”.

3)I can totally relate to the song ”Hollywood”.  In this song he points out the dangers of allowing movies and music to influence your life. He mentions in the song alot of the movies and musicians I used to let influence me. Most of the time in  negative way. So this song hit close to home.

4)I can honestly say there are no bad songs on the entire cd. It’s not often I say that. You can put it in and enjoy it from song 1 to song 15. Of course as with any CD I have picked out my favorites “26’s ” ft Lecrae, the previously mentioned “Hollywood”, ” Make War” ft Flame “I’m A Believer” ft Trip Lee and SoYe’ and “Community” ft Stephen The Levite and Sho Baraka will definitely get extra playtime.

5)It was also good to see the other 116 artist lend their unique talents to this project. I don’t think it took away from Tedashii’s efforts at all.

All in all I highly recommend you getting this CD, especially you youth leaders that are looking for solid music for your students to listen to. You won’t be disappointed.
