Here’s another example of  where we are heading as a society…………………….

  1. The Center Square says:

I think this is just the overblown issue of the day. People hare reacted based on their personal ideology, and have not paid close attention to the facts.

Fact #1 — Ms. Prejean expressed her support for the right of same sex marriages. Her words were, “I think its great Americans are able to choose one way or another.”

Fact #2 — Ms. Prejean specifically articulated her personal definitiion of marriage, not a public policy view. She said, “I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.” She believes. Never did she state that same sex marriage should be disallowed.

Fact #3 — Ms. Prejean beat 48 other contestants, and lost to one. (I assume there are 50 entrants; maybe she actually beat more than 48. Is there a Miss Puerto Rico?). Not bad. And just how unfair are people being to Miss North Carolina, the winner?

  2. Bill says:

Overblown or not, it is an issue, one that seems to be getting bigger all the time. I think Mr. White was trying to show the difference in attitude between the 2 sides. If the script would’ve been flipped like he stated, the outcry would’ve made every top headline this morning.

I’m assuming your facts listed above are correct, and if they are then this Hilton dude was even more wrong, don’t you think?

  3. The Center Square says:

The outcry IS all over the media! You can’t escape this story. I mean, how silly is that?!

I think the Hilton dude is an outright weirdo. He seems like just an empty publicity seeker to me.

What I take issue with is the idea that something as trivial as this bit of silliness between people of no importance should be viewed as “rushing to Sodom and Gomorrah,” as the pastor in your video clip said. That’s just overblown hysteria, in my opinion.

  4. Bill says:

Overblown?maybe, Trival? not so much. I think Mr. White was merely pointing out the obvious media slant that takes place on this issue. I don’t think he meant that this particular incident is the one that has us becoming “Sodom and Gomorrah”, just one of many examples.

I agree that there are bigger things taking place that need more attention, I just don’t want to sweep this one under the rug. If the media is going to spend a great deal of time and effort to put it out there, then there is nothing wrong with a response.

  5. The Center Square says:

I hear you. I don’t quite agree, but I hear you. Have a good one.

  6. Bill says:

Thanks for stopping by and engaging in the conversation.
