Sola scriptura (Latin ablative, “by scripture alone”) is the doctrine that the Bible is the only infallible or inerrant authority for Christain faith, and that it contains all knowledge necessary for salvation and holiness. Consequently, Sola Scriptura demands that no doctrine is to be admitted or confessed that is not found directly or logically within Scripture.However, Sola Scriptura is not a denial of other authorities governing Christian life and devotion. Rather, it simply demands that all other authorities are subordinate to, and are to be corrected by, the written word of God. Sola scriptura was a foundational doctrinal principle of the Protestant Reformation held by the Reformers and is a formal principle of Protestantism today.

It’s Back!!!!!!!

1)Is “Secular” music o.k. for Christan’s to listen too? (If someone takes a stab at this I’ll explain why I ask it)

2)Why do Monday’s seem to be getting more difficult, the older I get?

3)Will we ever see “unity” in the church this side of heaven?

4)Is the economy ever going to turn around?

5)Is this the year my Cubbies make it back to the World Series?

That was the question debated last night on ABC’s Nightline. While the topic is very “provocative” , I don’t think the T.V. show did anything to help answer the question. If  a person was watching and really wanted to know the answer, I’m sure they are more confused now. Here is a link to the on-line version, which is a little more in-depth. I was really disappointed, (but not shocked), that on T.V. they allowed Bishop Pearson to inject his opinion on why the Bible is not the inspired Word of God, but they edited Pastor Mark Driscoll’s response. Another thought I had was, I wish that Dr. James White would’ve been ask to participate in this debate. I’m sure he does too.Anyway I’d like to hear your opinions on how you thought the “debate” went. What,if anything, was good about and what was bad…………….

These commercials are funny, but they are so true.

Nowhere does the soul ever find such consolation as on that very spot where misery reigned, where woe triumphed, where agony reached its climax. There grace hath dug a fountain, which ever gusheth with waters pure as crystal, each drop capable of alleviating the woes and the agonies of mankind.

This song never gets old…………

I am currently watching this conference via live streaming on the internet. Here is the link to the Ligonier Conference. I encourage anyone wanting to know more about John Calvin,like me, to tune in and listen. Especially those that have a wrong idea about the man. I was just thinking the timing of this conference couldn’t be better, since the discussion of Calvinism has hit the secular media i.e. Time Magazine.

*UPDATE* I strongly encourage you to listen to Dr. Mohlers message on John Calvin: Teacher and Preacher. Especially the preaching part. Great stuff……

I get the ESV Daily Verse sent to my blog and my cell phone everyday. It’s funny how sometimes I will look at it and be like “that’s nice” or just kind of glance at it and go on. But then there are days that I’ll read it and just be blown away. Today was one of those days. I love these verses because they remind me that the”surpassing power” is God’s,and that is a good place to find rest. Especially when you are weary…….

2Co 4:7

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

2Co 4:8

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;

2Co 4:9

persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

2Co 4:10

always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies.
