Thus far we have discussed the Surety of the covenant and the partakers of this covenant, the church. We shall now proceed to consider the ways in which the Lord brings these partakers of the covenant into the covenant, and how He leads them to the ultimate goal of eternal felicity. The first aspect of this way is the calling. The Calling: God’s Declaration of the Gospel to Sinners The calling is a gracious work of God, whereby He invites the sinner by means of the gospel to exchange the state of sin and wrath for Christ, in order that through Him he may be reconciled to God and obtain godliness and salvation. By means of this calling He also, by the Holy Spirit, efficaciously translates His elect into this state. The calling is a gracious work of God: “And (the king) sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. For many are called, but few are chosen” (Matt. 22:3, 14); “…Him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2 Pet. 1:3); “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Cor. 1:9). God calls neither by the law of nature nor by the works of nature , whereby, in doing good, He nevertheless does not leave Himself without witness to the heathen (Acts 14:17). “That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him” (Acts 17:27). For in all this Christ is neither proclaimed to them nor are they exhorted to believe in Him. The heathen are subject to the covenant of works, and whatever God does in and toward them has reference to that covenant. They are thus obligated to live according to this rule, “Do this and thou shalt live.” Therefore neither the law of nature, nor God’s works belong to the calling; the heathen are not called. Part 3

Part 4

Part 5

This weekend I had an opportunity to worship with my brothers and sisters in Christ at Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church. Our pastor was invited to preach there as a part of their racial reconciliation Sunday. I was accompanied on this trip by my daughter and another family, and great friends, from my home church, the Kiefers. The day did not start out as planned, because my wife woke up with a very bad sinus infection,(please pray for her because she is still feeling bad even today). So that was a bit of a downer. But things began to pick up as K.K. and I fellowship-ed with the Kiefers at IHOP. I’m still trying to figure out how Rich put away that steak omelette AND Anyway, staying true to form I got us lost on Wedgewood Ave. Never again will I use mapquest. I was so frustrated that I did something I’ve never done before……………….I stopped and ask for directions. I need to give a big thank you here to Christy and Rich for rolling with the punches and not getting frustrated with me. Thankfully we were way ahead of schedule and still arrived a little early.

Upon arrival, I knew we were in for something special, because from the time we entered the building till the time we left people were shaking our hands and hugging us and making us feel very welcome. I can say this without hesitation, Mount Gilead is the most authentically warm and friendly church I have ever been to. Then the worship through song began. I cannot put into proper context how awesome that was. Let’s just say I was blown away. They also did a couple of more things that ,I’m hoping ,maybe one day our church will be able to incorporate. 1st Was, one of the deacons led the church in a time of prayer at the alter, before the preaching. 2nd An exegetical reading of scripture was done by one of the elders. All of this took place before Bro. Josh took his place behind the pulpit. For those of you from Cornerstone who might read this post (and I know it won’t be many, if any) Bro. Josh did us proud. He stayed faithful to the word of God and he preached with the passion that we’ve have come to know and love. I hope to aquire a copy of the message and post it here. He hit on some great points, and he brought to the table some very important issues that need to be worked through, so that all God’s children can worship together for His Glory.

Needless to say yesterday was truly a blessing from God. I know one thing, if there is ever a time that we are in Nashville on Sunday morning, I know where I’m taking my family to church.

I guess I’m back with a vengeance! I know I have a music page now but I wanted to post this one on my main page too. Trip Lee is probably my favorite Christain artist out there right now, and this is his new video. I wanted to make sure everyone got to see it! I posted the lyrics too……….

Verse 1 – Trip Lee:
Look I don’t know what they told you but if it don’t match up/With His holy Word then homie they need to back up/Some they pretend like they get Him they twisting facts up/That’s why we dig in the scriptures to know the Master/Homie, we have to if we want to get past the Only thing we know being what we learned from the Pastor/I really hope your listening, my listeners cause after/We want to see Him clear like a big screen plasma/Half of the cats I seen they don’t really know the Lord/They think my views are extreme, think I’m going overboard/But they ain’t read a page of the place where He’s spoken for Himself in the matters, man that’s what I be quoting for/Some say He don’t exist, nah that don’t even make sense/This Earth is masterpiece somebody had to paint this/Forget the big bang, or evolution and face this/He’s the King of Kings and author of all creation/Some say He made it then lets it run like a clock/Nah, He controls every soul and every action on the block/If it happened then He watched and it happens on His watch/No surprise in His eyes, no my God’s never shocked

I don’t know what you heard, I don’t know what you heard/I don’t know what you heard, hope it matches with the Word/I don’t know what you think, I don’t know what you think/I don’t know what you think, homie time to get it straight

Verse 2 – Tedashii:
Wonderful, Counselor, Masterful/This is Jesus Christ, LORD, all capitals/This is why Trip and I trip after the mass appeal/Of people, who pigeonhole Jesus as a pacifist, Whoa!/A prophet with no power in His plasma/Still we preach against the views that Arius profess to have of Him (look it up!)/Meaning the deifying of Jesus was nothing more than an accident/But the Bible’s the proof that refutes and gives us facts on Him/That He was, what His Daddy was Homousia, the God-Man/sent to save us all that He loves/And set us free from sin and shut it down like it was Attica/Anyone disbelieving this truth may want to back it up or back It up/Because the Son of Man is coming that’s what’s up and at His judgment seat is where you will see/His holy wrath is just/But God is Love, that don’t mean He’s weak! Hey check His resume/Just cause He lets you breath don’t mean He won’t take His breath away

Verse 3 – Trip Lee:
These days in the church, most cats got it twisted/Don’t let them fool you on how we posed to live this/For instance, some say to come to Christ for riches/Or maybe your blessing, but my question is what is this?Cause that ain’t the gospel, that if you put your faith in Him/To come to the Savior, and then you’ll rake that paper in? Face it friends, they made Jesus they holy ATM/Paul would appalled, this gospel would be disgrace to Him/This false gospel strips Him of His flyness/He’s more like your servant and less like His Highness/So please don’t buy it, that idea is absurd/Jesus said the Christian life can be strife and it’s filled with hurt/ Look homie I would hate for, cats to get that fake stuff/And never know it’s wrong cause they wont open a page up/I pray we erase the wrong views and embrace the Holy Word that testifies to us about the Savior
