This Is Christmas?

I saw this commercial on T.V. the other day and it really got to me. I know every year we see Christmas become more secularized and twisted, but this struck me as almost too much. It almost seems to me that they are making Santa out to be like Jesus. Am I reading too much into it or do I have reason to be upset?

  1. drewdixon says:

“He exists just as love and generosity exist.”

Sounds like what the Jesus Seminar does to Jesus–they say Jesus’s message is true and it lives in his followers but they don’t believe in a literal resurrection from the dead.

Yet Paul says in 1 Cor. 15 that if Christ has not been raised then our faith and our hope are in vain and we are most to be pitied.

Under the logic presented in this video you could claim that anything exists simply because of some good that comes from it.

But yes, in this particular video–it seems that Santa is set up as the “replacement Jesus” the embodiment of what Christmas is all about. Christmas certainly is a celebration of love and generosity, but what we really ought to be celebrating is love and generosity as they come alive in the God-man Jesus Christ who came to save sinners!

I agree with you Bill… it’s too much. I was thinking about the fact that God made us to worship and if we are not worshiping Him, then really anything is up for grabs. Even Santa.
